Overview

The Dial Pad feature allows you to interact with automated phone systems (IVR) or dial extensions directly while on a live call. It is accessible as an on-screen tool within the RingResponse interface for users making or receiving calls through their web browser.

Key Functionalities

  • Browser-Based Access: Available exclusively for calls made or answered through the RingResponse web interface.

  • On-Screen Keypad: A visual dial pad appears over the call interface for easy input.

  • IVR Navigation: Enter numbers in response to automated menu prompts (e.g., "Press 1 for Sales").

  • Direct Extension Dialing: Dial extensions or additional numbers during an active call without disconnecting.

How to Access and Use the Dial Pad

  1. Ensure you are on an active call, either outbound or inbound, using the RingResponse web interface.

Step 2: Open the Live Call Controls

  1. During the call, click the Controls button in the call bar.

  2. The Live Call slide-out panel will appear.

Step 4: Enter Numbers

  1. Use your mouse to click the on-screen keys (0-9, *, #) as needed for IVR menus or extensions.

  2. The DTMF tones will be sent to the other party on the call.

  3. Click Hide Dial Pad or the back button to return to the main Live Call panel.

Best Practices

  • Use for IVR navigation: Primarily use the dial pad to navigate automated customer service menus when needed.

  • Keep the dial pad handy: If you anticipate needing to enter numbers, open the dial pad early in the call to be prepared.

  • Know your shortcuts: Familiarize yourself with common IVR options within your organization to navigate menus efficiently.

  • Close when finished: Hide the dial pad after use to declutter your screen and return to full visibility of other call controls.

Troubleshooting

  • The Dial Pad button is missing or grayed out
Confirm you are on an active call. The dial pad is only available during live conversations.

  • Keypresses are not being recognized by the IVR
Wait for the IVR prompt to finish before entering numbers.
Ensure your internet connection is stable; delayed DTMF tones can cause input failure.

  • Can't hear DTMF tones when pressing keys
This is normal. The tones are sent to the other party's system but may not be audible in your call interface.

  • The Dial Pad does not appear after clicking the button
Refresh the RingResponse interface or try clicking the Controls button again to reopen the panel.
Check for any browser pop-up blockers that might be preventing the overlay from appearing.
