Overview

In SalesExec, marketing details are key pieces of information collected about leads that help segment, qualify, and report on lead sources and campaign effectiveness. These details can include campaign names, marketing channel designations, lead source identifiers, and other attributes that tell you where a lead came from and how it was acquired.

Key Functionality

  • View and update marketing attributes for individual leads.

  • Correct or standardize values such as campaign, lead source, or marketing channel.

  • Improve reporting accuracy by ensuring consistent taxonomy for marketing fields.

  • Fix data issues that occur during imports or integrations.

  • Support downstream automated workflows that rely on marketing fields.

How to Use This Feature

You can follow the instructions below to review or make edits to your available marketing data components:

  1. Navigate to More > Settings > Channels, Lead Sources, Campaigns

  2. On that page, you can use the three tabs in the upper right to toggle between your lists of Marketing Channels, Lead Sources, and Campaigns.

On any of the three lists, you can use the green "Add" button in the upper left to add a new item to your list.

    Best Practices

    • Standardize marketing field options so users and external systems use consistent values.

    • Use picklist values wherever possible to prevent free-text errors.

    • Review new leads regularly to catch incorrect marketing attributes early.

    • Provide training for team members on how to select the correct marketing values, especially during manual lead creation.

    • Compare marketing values against known campaign lists from your marketing team to align data with actual campaigns.

    Troubleshooting

    • If you can’t find the correct value in a picklist, check whether the required value needs to be added to the system’s marketing options before it can be selected.

    • If imported leads display unexpected marketing values, verify the mapping between your source system and SalesExec.

    • For leads missing marketing details, determine whether the source system is sending those values correctly and adjust the integration if needed.

    • Inconsistent reporting on campaign or channel performance usually stems from mismatched values in marketing fields; standardize values to fix this.
